Pilibhit MP Varun Gandhi, son of Maneka Gandhi and Late Sanjay Gandhi, grand son of Late Indira Gandhi on 6th of March, 2011 married to Yamini Roy Chowdhury of Kolkata. After thirty seven(37) years Nehry-Gandhi family got a bahu as Yamini. This marriage took place at Kashi Kamkotishwar temple in Sanatani tradition . Priests chanted vedic mantras in the guidance of Kanchi Shankaracharya Swami Jayendra Saraswati.
Though it was one of most hyped wedding if this year, however, this marriage has been organised in quite modest manner, which is quite encouraging . It was confined to friends and family. Bride Yamini wore a pink Banarasi sari, covering her head with a golden tissue dupatta, the bridegroom Varun wore a silk 'kurta' and 'dhoti' with a saffron orange ruffled 'angvastram'.
Varun in person has invited his close relative Aunt and cousins - Sonia Gandhi , Priyanka and Rahul Gandhi. But not any member from Congress President family attended this wedding ceremony.
Shankaracharya blessed the newly wed Varun and Yamini . He gifted a ‘navratna’ garland to the bride Yamini.
