Bihari Toppers - Tale of Setting Mentality

बिहार टॉपर्स ने बिहार का नाम का जो करना था, बहुत अच्छे से कर डाला , पर कई टॉपर्स अभी भी खुले आम घूम रहे है इज़्ज़त का तमगा लिए किसी प्रतिष्ठित पद की शोभा बढ़ा रहे है . शायद वे कभी न पकडे जाए . इन लोगो का अपना समाज है , इन्हे थोड़ी भी लज्जा नहीं आती की ये स्नातक और पीएचडी की डिग्री लेकर भी अपने विषय में कुछ नहीं जानते . पर ये उन विषयों के प्रोफेसर बन लाखो रूपये का सालाना वेतन पाते है . ये सेटिंग कला है . और राज्य का पता नहीं , पर अपने बिहार में आपको इस सेटिंग कला के कई महारथी मिल जाएंगे . ये इंजीनियर है , कार्यालय चले जाए तो इनसे ज्यादा वहां का चपरासी जानता है ( मेरा निजी अनुभव , BSNL कार्यालय का ) . ये चिकित्सक है , महिलाओ की हर समस्या का समाधान उसका यूटरस निकालना है ( हाल में ३६ ऐसे केस पकडे गए ) . ये नर्स है , पर इंजेक्शन देने में हाथ कांपता है पर जो भी है सरकारी वेतन , महीना के अंत में मिल जाना चाहिए . इनके अनुसार जीवन ऐसे ही सेट होता है . इनके अनुसार इसमें खराबी ही क्या है ...

समाज का ३०% आबादी ही इस सेटिंग कला का महारथी है, पर पुरे समाज का नाम ऊँचा करने के लिए काफी है .

Deteriorating Quality Education in Bihar

बाकी राज्य का पता नहीं , पर अपने बिहार में शिक्षित के नाम पर एक ऐसी फ़ौज खड़ी हो चुकी है जो दसवी और बारहवीं कक्षा उत्तीर्ण हो चुके है , कई तो स्नातक और पीएचडी भी है, जो अगर ठीक से हिंदी में शुद्ध पांच पंक्ति बोल दे तो आश्चर्य होगा . अंग्रेजी न बोलने के लिए उनके पास बहुत बड़ा हथियार भी मिल गया है कि वे विदेशी चीजो को स्पर्श ही नहीं करते ,बल्कि बोलते भी नहीं . अफ़सोस कि बात ये है कि , इस फ़ौज का ३० % शिक्षा के प्रचार प्रसार में लगा हुआ है ...इनके द्वारा प्रसारित शिक्षा की गुणवत्ता कैसी होगी ..इसका सहज अनुमान लगाया जा सकता है .

अफ़सोस तब और होता है जब पाती हूँ कि , इसमें स्त्रियों का योगदान कुछ ज्यादा ही है . शिक्षक होना एक बहुत ही सम्मानजनक पद है और उस पद की गरिमा को इतने निचले स्तर पर ले जाया चूका है कभी कभी लगता है इस अँधेरे कोटर में कभी रौशनी आएगी भी या नहीं . मेरे कुछ जानकार में कई स्त्रीया इस पद की शोभा बढ़ा रही है , उनके अनुसार ये बहुत आसान काम है , घर का काम भी निबट जाता है और वेतन भी ठीक . कोई झिक झिक और पिक पिक नहीं . माँ बाप भी खुश है ..किसी तरह डिग्री ले लेना है फिर तो कही टीचिंग लाइन में फिक्स करा ही देंगे ..लड़का भी टीचिंग लाइन वाली लड़की से शादी करना चाहता है ...वेतन सरकार का और घर की नौकरी ...बाकी इधर उधर का जोड़ घटाव थोड़ा मोड़ा तो होता रहता है .

एक पुरानी बात भी याद आ गयी ....
जब मैं शायद पहली या दूसरी कक्षा में थी तब औरंगाबाद ( दादा घर) जाना हुआ था , वहा घर के बगल में एक पंडीजी का परिवार था . पंडिताईन को पंडीजी ने कही सरकारी प्राथमिक विद्यालय में सेट कर दिया था. घर से बच्चे उनके, उन्हें ककहरा याद कराते थे रोज ...तब वे विद्यालय जाती थी . शायद अब वे जीवित न हो , उम्मीद कर सकती हूँ कि वे गाय पर निबंध लिखने का ज्ञान ले कर ही मरी होंगी .

कुछ लोग का नजरिया इस मामले में अनोखा है , उनके अनुसार पंडिताईन सेट हो गयी न , बच्चा तो जैसे तैसे पढ़ ही जाता है ..अपने भी तो कुछ पढ़ेगा न उ ...हमहू उसी बोरा छाप विद्यालय से पढ़े है ..हम का अनपढ़ है ...बहस इनसे क्या हो सकती है . आज बोरा छाप न हो कर साइकल , मिड डे मील छाप हो चूका है ...और फिर व्ही बात कि कुछ तो पढ़िए लेता है ..

शिक्षक : ज्ञान

शिक्षक सिर्फ अक्षर ज्ञान नहीं देता , उसका कर्त्वय है कि वो अपने विद्यार्थी को स्वाभिमान का अर्थ समझाए , सही और गलत का फ़र्क़ करना सिखाये , जो व्यक्ति खुद ये नहीं समझता वो शिक्षक नहीं हो सकता

UPTET 2013 - Road to Peaceful Life

Uttar Pradesh is one of the largest state in India, even after its division.there are still many things which happens in this state is like a festival and one of such event is any happenings which leads to teacher recruitment. Just after two weeks, Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test for year 2013 is going to take place. It is expected that about 5 to 6 lakh candidates will appear in this test.

After the implementation of Right to Education Act ( RTE) , all the teachers are required to fulfill certain eligibility. Those who qualify TET can only apply for the post of teacher in Government schools. Still this act is not compulsory for private schools. Population, which is dominated by middle class thinking that getting a government job is the best aim of life. So all the youth, who are from this category are not going to miss the chance to qualify TET. As they feel that qualifying TET will be a step ahead towards getting a teacher job in Government school.

They are not wrong in thinking that getting a job in Government school with initial salary of Rs. 20000 - 25000/ pm will bring their life at ease.There would be no problem. Often in society it has been found that Government school teachers are having quite content life. At last we all look for peaceful life. Teacher on Contract - Salary Less Than Gov Peon

I have been dealing with career and education related articles and information from long time. There have been seachange in job sector in last eight years, either in private or government. SSC and  State SSC is regularized. Many MNC has established new companies , thus so many job has been created for youth from lower level to higher level with good salary packages.

But, the one field which I felt is going through its pathetic days is teaching job, especially Government Teachers plus those teachers who are working in some unknown private schools. As per one estimate there are more than 4 lakh such teachers who are working in Government schools on contract. These teachers work for eight to ten hrs and get hardly Rs. 3000/- to 7000/- per month. Government each year is spending crores of amount for the development of Education system in India. So many fund is coming out of the country to many NGOs for teaching and empowering children with proper and good education.

Question is, are all  expecting that these teachers are good enough to provide good education to children in schools with this pathetic salary. With the growing inflation rate , everyone in the society is looking for job where he or she can able to get good salary. So its obvious that those who are compeld to work in these teaching jobs are not good enough to fetch any good salaried job or just waiting for one and will leave the job immediately. Government is appointing thousand of teachers each year on contract with not any promise of promotion and increment. Many are applying for it as they are unemployed or not good enough to get any other job.

Teachers are considered to be 2nd God on earth as he guides and train to live life. But what one can expect from such teachers who are themselves misguided. Government is playing politics of vote by creating number of teachers job on contract and make promises to make it permanent . This is quite obvious in Bihar , UP, Chattisgarh and Rajasthan Politics. There is NCTE , it is coming with rule after rule which is hardly followed.

Teachers, specially Primary school teachers are considered  pathetic guys,  just because of their poor salary. Peon , who is hardly 5th pass are getting good salary and this is the reason that even a graduate is willing to work as peon. Central or State Government will have to decide if they really want the education system to improve , then they will have to provide good salary to good teachers. This will encourage good educated people to join teaching job.

Cheating in Exams - Education Lagging Behind

Now-a-days there is wave  for "Anna and Remove corruption". Often people are having shaded views about corruption . They think "Fodder Scam", "Stamp Scam" , 2G Scam is only under the definition of corruption . From my point of view there are many thing , which should be look under the purview of corruption and at top is education system of India.
            Across India, number of students appear in 10th class exams to cross the threshold of school education and get good marks to enter into the new world of their aspire dreams. However, one thing that is sad about this exams, specially on state level is the way cheating is going on at different centers. So much so that not only students even parents are involved in this act. I came across news channel showing how parents were being lathicharged for this act. The question is why it is happening.
                Our quality of education is deteriorating day by day. Recently saw a  program how a teacher in one of the primary school was not good at even teaching M for Mango or A for Apple . She spelled all the words wrong. These teachers are appointed on merit basis,i.e if they have result showing that they are having 1st Division they would be selected without any test or verification of their knowledge. This selection process has also encouraged the cheating in exams. In rural areas and even in urban areas as well , somehow candidates appear in exam to get a degree or certificate , so that later on they can get job.
                    On the one hand Government is proud that it is providing employment and recruiting lakhs of teachers , however, on the other hand the education quality is going out of control. What such teachers are going to teach and what the students are able to learn. No doubt, somehow children will get knowledge of letters and  number, but unless quality teacher will not be recruited , children will hardly  able to learn to be sensible towards education. They don't feel guilt in cheating , because they are grown up amidst such polluted educational environment.
                       This country is getting proud of giving 6th and 7th Pay commission and a peon is able to get Rs 8000 per month, where many good teachers who are supposed to build the base of nation is struggling to get a job.  
      Unfortunately , in India recruiting teachers has become a vote bank tactics for politics. Lets hope that whatever changes come , it improves the quality of education system of India , which is base of any progressive country.
