I have been dealing with career and education related articles and information from long time. There have been seachange in job sector in last eight years, either in private or government. SSC and State SSC is regularized. Many MNC has established new companies , thus so many job has been created for youth from lower level to higher level with good salary packages.
But, the one field which I felt is going through its pathetic days is teaching job, especially Government Teachers plus those teachers who are working in some unknown private schools. As per one estimate there are more than 4 lakh such teachers who are working in Government schools on contract. These teachers work for eight to ten hrs and get hardly Rs. 3000/- to 7000/- per month. Government each year is spending crores of amount for the development of Education system in India. So many fund is coming out of the country to many NGOs for teaching and empowering children with proper and good education.
Question is, are all expecting that these teachers are good enough to provide good education to children in schools with this pathetic salary. With the growing inflation rate , everyone in the society is looking for job where he or she can able to get good salary. So its obvious that those who are compeld to work in these teaching jobs are not good enough to fetch any good salaried job or just waiting for one and will leave the job immediately. Government is appointing thousand of teachers each year on contract with not any promise of promotion and increment. Many are applying for it as they are unemployed or not good enough to get any other job.
Teachers are considered to be 2nd God on earth as he guides and train to live life. But what one can expect from such teachers who are themselves misguided. Government is playing politics of vote by creating number of teachers job on contract and make promises to make it permanent . This is quite obvious in Bihar , UP, Chattisgarh and Rajasthan Politics. There is NCTE , it is coming with rule after rule which is hardly followed.
Teachers, specially Primary school teachers are considered pathetic guys, just because of their poor salary. Peon , who is hardly 5th pass are getting good salary and this is the reason that even a graduate is willing to work as peon. Central or State Government will have to decide if they really want the education system to improve , then they will have to provide good salary to good teachers. This will encourage good educated people to join teaching job.
