Mamta Banarjee in the Railway Budget 2011 has announced to set up “Rail Industrial Park” at Jellingham. The main features of this park is following:
- Cluster of diverse industrial units whose output will be consumed by the railways.
- Park at its initial stage will focus on high volume safety and vital components.
- Such Parks would help India to become a global hub for the railway industry.
- A unit to manufacture car steel bogies and couplers through a joint venture between Burn Standard Co. Ltd. and SAIL has been initiated in this Park.
- In this Railway budget Minister of Railway Mamta Banarjee also proposed to set up a Rail Industrial Park at New Bongaigaon.
